Heroes Con 08 - Mark Waid

On Friday at Heroes Con we journeyed a few tables away from ours to chat with the Editor in Chief of Boom Studios who also just happens to be legendary comics writer Mark Waid. In between signing comics for fans he took a moment to talk to us about being the EIC at Boom, super hero continuity problems, how Batman should be written and much more on this edition of the Dollar Bin.

This conversation was a real treat for me not only because I have enjoyed so much of his work but also because he is such a nice guy as well. I think I could have gone on for an hour with the questions running thru my head and I look forward to having the chance to chat with Mark again.

Really good interview. Nice, concise, good flow and a great guest.

How you stop from sounding like a stammering fanboy asshole, I'll never know. Do you prepare notes and questions beforehand at all or are you just getting to be old hat at this enough that you can shoot from the hip?

This man has written just about all of my favorite funny books ever. I'm pretty sure I would've wet my pants, even when he's just being an approachable nice guy about the whole thing.

Good work.

Thanks Marty.

I honestly don't do notes or anything like that. For better or worse I just go with whatever pops into my head at the time.

I don't think you guys do "interviews" so much as you have conversations on particular topics with someone.

I think that's why so many of your pieces come out with such a good feel to them...I think the subject really gets the feeling that what they're participating in is more of a chance for them to say whatever they want as opposed to you having an agenda that you're steering them towards.

So yeah, nice job...
