In a recent interview with IGN UK about the development of Rocksteady’s highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 game of the year Arkham Asylum, Mark Hamill says it took some convincing for him to do both Arkham Asylum as well return for the sequel. And while he does not intend for his comments to serve as possible spoilers for the plot of this franchises second (and possibly third) releases, he does say that he intends his next turn as the Joker to be his last saying, “This will be my last, there’s no question about that. But it’s the last hurrah.”

Studios debuts a new ongoing horror series sure to make your blood run cold, DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS. Kurt Busiek, along with acclaimed writer Daryl Gregory and sensational artist Scott Godlewski, take you through the dark corridors of the corporate American boardroom and show you vampires aren’t the only kinds of bloodsuckers!

“Dracula’s a character who’s always fascinated me,” says series creator Kurt Busiek, “and getting a chance to build something firmly rooted in Dracula’s real-world (and Stoker-novel) history, but with a very modern edge, is the kind of creative challenge I love. It’s the world’s greatest vampire against the corporate world — and there’s no easy way to tell who’s the real villain, and who’s the hero. I’m thrilled to be working with Daryl, Scott and BOOM! on this. Putting it together feels like the early days of working on CONAN, and I think the results are going to be a real treat for readers.”

DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS tells the story of a powerful, predatory corporation that acquires a valuable asset…Dracula! They think they own him, but no one can own the Son of the Dragon. There’s a monster in their midst that puts Hannibal Lecter to shame—and he plans to gain his freedom in blood.

It’s bloodsuckers vs. bloodsucker, as Busiek brings an incredibly modern spin to the Dracula mythos. Joining Busiek is award-winning author Daryl Gregory (PANDEMONIUM) and rising star artist Scott Godlewski (CODEBREAKERS). The epic journey starts here, so don’t miss the debut issue of DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS, the next breakout ongoing series from BOOM! Studios! Featuring covers by fan-favorite THE NOCTURNALS artist Dan Brereton, and Ron Salas!

“The collective raw storytelling talent between Kurt and Daryl is boundless,” said BOOM! Studios Managing Editor Matt Gagnon. “Readers should be prepared for a cracking horror story that’s intense, arresting, and explores the nuances between good and evil. Dracula is back from the dead, and in very good hands!”

DRACULA: THE COMPANY OF MONSTERS is written by Kurt Busiek (SUPERMAN, AVENGERS) and Daryl Gregory (PANDEMONIUM) with art by red-hot artist Scott Godlewski (CODEBREAKERS).
In which Shawn looks at the New Releases and lets you know which books she is most excited about: HeroesCon style!

1) Mystery Society #1

I read this during my lunch break and I must say that I thought it was great. Mystery Society is about an organization that was founded by a rich, young couple who want to unearth secrets. It was written by Steve Niles with art by Fiona Staples. Niles will be at HeroesCon! The story is fun and engaging and I dig the washed-out tones of the art. Check out the awesome HeroesCon variant! Stay tuned to the blog for more exciting news about Steve Niles and Mystery Society variants!

2) Dazzler #1

This issue features not one but two stories about the roller-skating disco mutant. Both stories are written by Jim McCann who will be at HeroesCon. I like how they put her in her original costume complete with disco ball.

3) Fall of the Hulks Savage She-Hulks #3

This book has two people on it who are coming to HeroesCon: Jeff Parker and Jonboy Meyers. This issue is jam packed with action. And Hulks. Lots of Hulks.

4) Incorruptible #6

I think Mark Waid has written for every comics company ever. He will be at HeroesCon at the Boom! Studios booth. I am a big fan of Waid’s work. And he is a super sweet guy. You should definitely stop buy and say “hi” to him!

5) Secret Warriors #16

Jim Cheung and Mark Morales who worked on the cover will be at HeroesCon (Justin Ponsor also worked on the cover but he won’t be at the convention). Also writer Jonathan Hickman will be there! Hickman also wrote Fantastic Four #579 which came out this week.
