He was just regular old Jonah Hex only instead of shooting humans in the face he was shooting zombies and beasts from hell in the face.

This almost looks like the work of someone who knows nothing of Jonah Hex at all.

It looks like they are looking to the the 90's when Hex had a few mini-series at Vertigo that dealt with a lot of horror and sci-fi themes instead. But I think more than anything they decided to try to make a summer blockbuster instead of a serious movie and most readers of the current book will disagree with that move.
