Most people got their “Best of 2008” awards and shows out of the way long ago, but not The Dollar Bin. There were so many great comics and so many great memories that we wanted to savor it all for as long as we could. But with 2009 now fully in swing and bringing the awesome all on its own, we have finally decided to look back and then move on.
What awards have our crack(ed) staff come up with this year? What honors could be in store for show favorites like Ed Brubaker, Robert Kirkman, Matt Fraction, Jimmy Palmiotti, Laura Martin and Chris Schweizer? So finally the winner in the category of “better late than never”, here they are, the 2008 and 2nd annual Dollar Bin Awards!

Great show and I will comment further later on but I just wanted to say that I have never heard a woman use the word taint before much less have it sound so cute and adorable as only Shawn could do.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I love the "hanging out and BSing about comics" feel of your podcasts. I listen to it while I am on the computer at work on my ipod and find myself laughing loudly at times . . my co-workers probably think I went insane . . .
The explanations of Final Crisis and Ultimates almost had me crying . . .
Thanks so much.
I never get tired of hearing that.
Its always great to have new blood.
Thanks for joining and feel free to express as much as you want.
If it makes you feel better I voted and you didn't even have to give me free shit!!!
A quick comment on All Star Superman 10.
The reason I thought that it was issue of the year has nothing to do with any hidden meanings, and any over someones head Grant Morrison concepts.
This was all about being a superhero.
About taking dying kids to see the pyramids before cancer kills them.
Because he can.
It's about saving a girl from commiting suicide.
Because he can.
It's about taking Lois Lane deeply into his arms and telling her they can never be together because he'd rip her apart.
In a comic market full of superheroes not being superheroes, only fighting those villians who are trying to kill them instead of helping others and trying to make a difference, this was an issue about a dying man helping others. Not stopping being who he was.
Superman.
The issue summed up everything good about the character.
And everything that superheroes aren't these days.
That's why it was my favorite.
All that shit with Superman playing God and creating our universe and other shit I didn't catch, I could care less about.
Also I nominated Adam Warren for the last story arc of Empowered vol 4.
Easliy one of the most badass stories I've read in forever.
Go read it.
CG, have you read Superman Peace on Earth? Its pretty good and up that ally.
No, I haven't read those yet.
Those came out when I was a broke ass college student, and couldn't afford them.
Amazon link....hint hint.
Also I'm not really a fan of seeing Alex Ross's friends as superheroes.
So I haven't felt Empowered to do so. Maybe I'll find one at the library.
Good comment on ASS#10 CG.
I agree with Cap here...Also, i'm only up to Empowered vol 3, so don't spoil it for me! Adam Warren's tonal pencils in that series are fucking incredible! I'm surprised they translate so well when printed.
