Terry Goes to San Diego

As we seek to spread the gospel of the Dollar Bin, not nationwide but world wide, we often try to reach out to our listeners and commentators to become even bigger parts of the movement. One such friend of the cast is Terry LaCaze who recently made the journey from Missouri all the way to San Diego for the 2008 San Diego Comic Con. Not only was Terry cool enough to rock a DB Tour t-shirt at Comic Con, but he was also nice enough to let Adam and I give him a call early one Saturday morning for this interview about his trip.

Rappin With Richard - San Diego Comic Con 2008

Where in the world is Richard… San Diego?

Every year going to the San Diego Comic Con is a tradition for creators, publishers, retailers and fans. No exception to that rule is our pal Richard Morgan, owner of Richard’s Comics and Collectables in Greenville SC. So for our second year in a row, we stop by his shop to get his thoughts on the biggest and most fun business trip he takes each year.

Heroes Con 08 - Minicomics - The Best Little Comics In the World

Join cartoonist and educator Ben Towle for a minicomics panel featuring the awesome might of Dan Zettwoch (IRONCLAD), Alec Longstreth (PHASE 7), Rob Ullman (GRAND GESTURES), Liz Baillie (MY BRAIN HURTS), and Joe Lambert (BAIT & SWITCH). Who better to ask what the deal is with these little handmade comics? Learn the answers to this and other questions in this informative panel!

* Unfortunately I was not able to monitor the field recorder during this panel (which was very important to me) and it ran out disk space before completion. Oh, and I miss the beginning due to overlapping panels. Yeah, and I wasn’t able to use my full recording system nor set up any mics. Not bad though, huh? - Adam

Heroes Con 08 - Jason Aaron

Very near the end of Heroes Convention 08… Shortly after wrestling with Matt Fraction and going toe to toe with Rick Remender the Dollar Bin pulls in reinforcements… Rachelle of Livin’ B’tween Wednesdays (Welcome to th South). Listen in amazement as she actually interviews Jason Aaron with questions and everything. Also note the interview skills of Devin, the babbling of Adam, and the intervening of Matt Fraction. Note: This interview was edited as to not make us look stupid.

Heroes Con 08 - Religion and Philosophy in Comics

Can comics go deeper than surface metaphors concerning myth and worship and explore foundational truths? Can comics depict where human experience touches on the unknowable? And if it can, should it? Two of North America’s finest young cartoonists, Sammy Harkham (Crickets, The Poor Sailor, Kramer’s Ergot) and Kevin Huizenga (Ganges, Curses) explore the question of belief in the comics form in this panel moderated by Tom Spurgeon of the Comics Reporter.
